In the past, has your landscaping included only a lawn and a few flowers? Maybe you're lucky to even have some pretty shade trees on your property that have added interest to your home's landscaping. However, if you have decided that it's time to make some big changes, from contacting a fencing company to expanding your planting areas, here are some ideas that might help you.

A Fencing Company

Maybe you've driven in beautiful areas of your town or city and you have been impressed by the beautiful fences you have seen as part of beautiful homes. Has that inspired you to also add a fence to your home? Maybe you have decided that, besides adding beauty to your property, it will also give you a safer place to live.

If you do want a fence on your property, think of getting suggestions from an agent at a fencing company. He or she will have the training and the experience to advise you on what kind of fence would look best with your house. For example, if you have a ranch-, Mexican-, or Mediterranean-style home, a wrought-iron fence might be recommended. If you have a cottage-style of home, or even a traditional style of house, a wooden fence might be best.

The type of gate will also be part of the selection process. Consider adding interest to the fence by choosing a unique gate. For example, maybe an initial that represents your name might be what you want. Or, if you live in a rural area where there are many deer, a wrought-iron deer might be a great addition to the gate's design.

Expand The Planting Areas

First, consider how much space you have in your landscaping. Is there enough room to add huge planting beds that can include many different types of plants and flowers? Perhaps you have only a small area for your landscaping. If that's the case, think of accentuating your flower beds with ornamental concrete borders.

Maybe the planting area would look nice with statuary added in strategic areas. For example, would a statue of St. Francis of Assisi surrounded by small animal statues add interest to the landscaped areas? Or, maybe you would like a series of statues that depict children at play. No matter which statues you choose, think of also adding flowers and other plants to the area where you place the statues.
